About the Class

Have you ever been intimidated by “foundation paper piecing,” never tried it before, or do not find it to be as easy as some people boast? This class if for YOU! In this FPP class we will focus on ONE-star block pattern that can be changed up to look like many unique blocks. You are only limited by your imagination. Lori will walk you through the basics, some pro tips and tricks, and show you tried and true ways to organize and make ANY foundation paper piecing pattern conquerable. The precision of this type of piecing is what makes it uniquely fun and amazing!

Fabric Requirements

This is hard to determine, since these blocks are a great stash buster. I am building a quilt from a fat quarter bundle and typically only use half a fat quarter in the blocks.

To learn the techniques in class, I would recommend you bring:
4-6 fat quarters x 2 for blocks in class
1/2 yard of two different low volume

Class Supply List

Sewing Machine and neutral thread
Basic Sewing Kit
Rotary Cutter & Small Mat
Paper Scissors
Glue Stick (Elmer’s washable)
Pencil
Thin Sharpie Marker (black)
Add-A-Quarter Ruler 6” ruler https://amzn.to/3DxQrSX
Colored Pencils (trust me, you’ll be glad you brought these)

Instructor

Lori Allred

Hi, I’m Lori Allred. My life, like a patchwork quilt assembled from pieces collected over time, has blended into a beautiful collection of different crafty talents. I have literally been making things my whole life, but when I made my first quilt in 2017, I was hooked and have been addicted ever since. For me, quilting is the perfect combination of creativity and technical challenge, that results in a lasting and useful object. I am group taught, meaning I learned from quilting with groups of friends new and old. If you want to learn to quilt, go hang out with quilters! I love the challenge of learning new techniques and patterns. And I give everything at least one try before deciding I don’t like a method or style of quilting. I’m drawn to bright colors and the precision of foundation paper pieced quilts. I have been teaching for over 20 years in the craft industry. I live in Syracuse, Utah with my husband of 30 years. I’m the mother of two amazing young adults and love that their significant others are like my bonus kids. While I await the arrival of future grandkids I spend time hanging at home with my two furry family members, Sooki & Pista. If I’m not quilting, I’m cooking. As a Pampered Chef consultant I love teaching others about keto cooking. My day job includes marketing and graphic design, but it still gives me time to quilt and money to buy MORE fabric!!
