About the Class
If you buy an applique pattern, the instructions might say “applique the pieces using the method of your choice”. What if you have never done applique, you don’t have a method of choice? This class is for you. The instructor, Cheryl Bridges, has done a lot of applique using many different methods. She is happy to share her experience with you. In class you will see demonstrations and examples of several different methods of applique. You will learn about fusible web, freezer paper, mono-filament thread, pressing sheets, template plastic and other tools of the trade. Cheryl will teach you with hands-on learning making circles in class so you are confident enough to keep going after class with any pattern. You will go home with product samples to try. Students are welcome to bring their own applique pattern or project with questions. A class outline will be provided with a pencil for taking notes. You will have access to beautiful patterns and kits she has personally designed in class.

Instructor
Cheryl Bridges
Cheryl has always been an artist and a quilter. She learned how to sew at age 8, the first thing she
made was a doll quilt. As a teenager, she was making quilts for her siblings for christmas. She got a
degree in Graphics and Commercial Art at UVU. She has found that her training as an artist goes hand
in hand with her quilting.
Cheryl is married to a wonderful husband and has 4 children, no grandchildren yet . . . .
Through out her adult life, Cheryl has worked in nearly every position in the quilting industry. She has
worked in retail quilt shops, run a longarm machine, taught classes, designed patterns, made kits,
worked in a wholesale warehouse and made display quilts. She currently owns an online shop called
Butterfly Stitchery where she sells quilt fabric. https://www.etsy.com/shop/ButterflyStitchery
In 2024, Cheryl and her husband retired and moved to Hurricane UT where she joined the Zion
Piecemakers Quilt Guild. In retirement she is as busy as ever working in a quilt shop, running a
longarm machine and making display quilts. She loves attending quilt retreats and finishing her UFO
quilts.
