Turn your fabric scraps into a stunning quilt you’ll love! Learn how to use fabric scraps and leftover batting to make delightful fabric books. Your imagination is the only limit! You can make a storytelling book for a child, a book of leftover quilt blocks, a book of favorite fabrics and other ephemera for a gift or as a scrapbook of favorite prints. In class you will learn how to assemble the book in a way that allows you to work on embellishing pages at your leisure. We will discuss many ways to embellish your pages and spend the time leaning in to creative expression and discovery. You will also learn how to adjust measurements to make books in any size. Take a break from your machine and try something new! Kinusaiga is a Japanese art form that creates mosaic-like pictures by pressing fabric scraps into pre-cut grooves on a foam board, requiring no sewing or glue. Often called "no-sew quilting" or "painting with cloth," we are going to use up a lot of your scrap fabric to build a beautiful picture you can proudly display or hang. Think stained glass but for cloth!

Let’s make a 20” square patchwork pillow cover and then enhance it with a beautiful interlocking design. In place of using a serger for this pattern, we will explore several stitch recipes using some of the decorative stitches on the new Bernina Liberty 580 machine. Specialty threads such as the Kingstar metallic and the Aurifil 12 weight can be used to add a unique texture dimension. **Dave's Bernina will be providing machines and any Bernina accessories needed for this class!

The Lucy quilt pattern is a highly versatile, beginner-friendly design created by Gudrun Erla of GE Designs. It is famously engineered to work seamlessly with precut 10-inch fabric squares (Layer Cakes) alongside the popular Creative Grids Stripology XL or Stripology Squared rulers. You can create a couple different quilt layouts with these amazing blocks.

Use this bag next to your machine, especially on retreats. I’m always using pins, clips, bobbins and scissors and then setting them beside my machine to get lost or forgotten. Now I use the Drop Zone to catch all these items. I know right where they are. Clean up can be quickly done just by closing everything inside and zipping it up. You can make the medium or the large in class. There will be prep work to be done before class unless you choose to purchase a kit. These are made using In The Hoop embroidery techniques. We will be using the Design by JUJU In the hoop (ITH) Dino baby DBJJITH184 and Fox baby blanket lovie DBJJITH186, designs for the class. I have selected these two patterns for class, please decide which one you want to make. We will have kits available closer to the event. The Dino kit will be more for a boy and the Fox kit will be more for a girl.
This Class will give you the knowledge you need to make the other designs on your own. I will also provide a different blanket option that I developed.
The blanket part of the lovie is about 14 inch's square. The head size is about 4-5 inches.

Come have fun with us and learn how to make a masterpiece! You can finish a 17 1/2" star in 3 hours. This class is for everyone and each star is different than the one before. Pull out your scraps to play with color and value! This simple design is a perfect way to make a dent in your 2.5" or 1.5" wide scraps while creating a gorgeous quilt full of favorite fabrics. The blocks are addictive and fun to make. We will learn about value, pairing fabrics, accurate piecing, and developing your eye for color. If you wish, bring some extra scraps to trade with other students, and your instructor will bring extras as well. If you don't want to make the entire quilt, make a baby sized one, or turn a few blocks into a tote bag.

What happens if you take the bear paw block, eliminate the sashing, and stretch the block? Lazy Bear, that's what. This quilt is a great stash or scrap buster quilt. No need to shop for this one - use what you have! Choose a single color, or spectrum, and start cutting your scraps! In this class we will cover accurate piecing for flying geese blocks, color placement, and will also cover how to use freezer paper to foundation piece the flying geese (if you wish to) with NO paper removal. Bring extra scraps if you'd like, to swap with other students for greater variety in your quilt and to include some extra Sew Simply Stitched memories in your project. Your instructor will have some scraps from her stash to throw in the mix as well. You can make fewer blocks for a baby quilt, or just one row for a runner.
