About the Class

In a bind when it comes to binding a quilt?  This class will arm you with tips, tricks, and skills to help you finish your quilts with flair!  We’ll review binding basics to perfect those mitered corners, solve the mystery of that elusive final seam, and learn Deonn’s best tips for a pretty close-to-perfect finish every time!  We’ll take a look at machine binding, scallops and prairie points, faux piping, specialty fabrics, pieced binding, and other embellished edge finishes. Then we’ll explore curvy and odd-angled edges, and more to answer all your binding issues and questions. The class will conclude with a mini trunk show of prize-winning, fabulous finishes.

Instructor

Deonn Stott

Deonn’s love for quilting began at age eight as she helped tie her very first quilt. She spent many hours in the sewing room with the women in her family, and eventually her own triplet daughters, who have become accomplished quiltmakers themselves. As a pattern designer, quilt-maker and teacher, it is Deonn's personal quest to discover and share time-saving, budget-friendly tips, tricks, and modern tools that simplify the process of quilt-making, especially for “newbies”. In addition to operating her longarm quilting business, Quiltscapes, Deonn has been featured in a series of How-To-Quilt/How-To-Sew tutorials and videos for Riley Blake Designs and QNNtv’s “Quilt It!”. She has been a “fabric influencer” on the design team for Riley Blake Designs, and shares those projects and tutorials on social media. Her designs have been published in Quilt Trends, Quiltmaker and Quilt Folk magazines, as well as a book, Fifty Little Gifts, published by Lucky Spool. Her most recent book, Ultimate Binding & Edge-Finishing Guide for Quilting & Sewing, published by Landauer, will be released next Spring.
